To Joseph

We spent a fantastic Labor Day weekend tucked away at the foot of the Willowa Mountains in Oregon. We rented a cabin (that was straight out of the 1960s) along with two other families we know. We were right on the river not far from the lake. The best part about this spot had to be all it has to offer families. There isn't any internet or cell phone service, so you actually saw entire families doing stuff together (no daddies left to work on their computers or blackberries). Between the bumper boats and little indy cars, the horse back riding and the swimming pools there was just so much available to keep everyone going. Not to mention all the countless opportunities that nature provided (hiking to waterfalls, fishing and boating). The salmon were swimming up the river right outside our door, there were so many of them that kids were catching them with their bare hands (then throwing them back because they are out of season to actually catch and keep). This is how I imagine family vacations used to be before we became enslaved to our ability to communicate whenever and wherever. I hope to make this a Labor Day tradition. I've posted so many new photos, you will have to go on to older posts to see them all. Enjoy.
